Court orders anonymisation in one of our blogs

by Peter Magee on July 22, 2011

At 12.53pm today we received a facsimile from the Women’s Legal Services NSW.  That facsimile said :

“We advise that orders were made by Judge Truss in the District Court of NSW on 26 May 2011 prohibiting the publication or disclosure of any information tending to reveal the identity of certain named people.  We enclose a copy of the orders.

We note that as of 12:00 noon today material identifying several of the people named in the order was being published on your website at the following location :

We ask that you remove all identifying information from your website immediately.”

Our blog by Zoe Paterson of 28 June 2011 cited an article in the Sydney Morning Herald on 25 May 2011 as our source of information and the names of the relevant parties.  As a result of being served with a copy of the Court Orders Ms Paterson’s blog of 28 June 2011 has now been amended.

The case before the Supreme Court is now formally known as AA –v- the Registrar of Births, Deaths & Marriages and BB.
